    Design Crush: Ann Coyle

Chicago based designer, Ann Coyle, fell into interior design after renovating her own apartment over twelve years ago. From there a new career was born. According to her bio, her style is described as "...based in classicism and symmetry, employing a mix of modern and traditional forms to create tension and contrast." Her unique use of color can be contributed to her self-professed “loving of the color of Sweettarts” which is quite apparent in her beautiful designs.

She has developed a line of upholstery, casegoods, mirrors and lighting and also sells some vintage furniture finds all of which are available on her website, www.annecoyleinteriors.com.

I am not a huge Saints fan or anything but wanted to give them a little shout out for winning last night! Hence the gold/black theme in the images above. I went to a really fun Superbowl party where my friends were trying to recreate the football stadium experience and in all honesty, I preferred being there than the actual game. They had a huge tent in the backyard with stadium seating to fit 150 people, a massive screen for football viewing, a band to play at halftime and I would be remiss to mention the food...an air stream hot dog vendor (I had two dogs and a Moonpie), popcorn, boiled peanuts from "the peanut guy" who was walking around singing his peanut song. Great party!!! However, I did miss most of the commercials which I must admit is my favorite part.

How are we feeling about bold printed wallpaper in major rooms of the house?

Do these images make you feel...

    Dizzy?
    Happy?
    Excited?
    Nauscious?
    Fearful of commitment?
Like you are at grandmas's house?
Like you are staying at a Colonial B&B?
Like you are touring a designer showhouse?
Like you are you having a bad Laura Ashley acid-like flashback?

Could you sleep soundly in a room with this much pattern?

Could you have a relaxed meal with this much pattern going on?

Or should we relegate these mammoth prints to smaller spaces like powder rooms, closets and entry ways?

I want to hear your opinion...I really, really do! So leave me a comment.
