I feel like I talk about clever uses for wallpaper way too much on this blog but for all you local folks...The Habitat for Humanity store in Mt. Pleasant inherited the inventory from Carriage Trading Co. (formarly Chuck Campbell's Wallpaper) and all rolls are on sale for $1. They are pretty picked over but they do have a lot left and you can use the wallpaper for many uses other than the obvious-covering books, wrapping paper, drawer liners, to cover a bulletin board, arts and crafts, etc. Get goin'!!! [Thanks for the tip Katie!]

Yeah right, like this ever happens!
Martha. You either love her or hate her. Regardless, that woman has mad skills AND way too much time on her hands (as my mother always says). I think everyone has had a "Martha Moment" where we try to be super crafty or organized or innovative. Channeling your inner Martha takes a lot of work and can be frustrating as all get-out because she (and her team of thousands I imagine) make it look so easy! Case in point...I have tried a cazillion time to fold my fitted sheets like this and it NEVER looks like this. I mean NEVER, not a once.
Just in case you feel a "Martha Moment" coming on while tackling your linen closet, here are some of her helpful hints:
-Make sure everything is visible and that everyday items are easy to reach
-Out of season items like beach towels or heavy comforters should be at the top of the closet while everyday items like bed sheets should be in the middle
-Group items by category and label the shelves so items are easy to find
-Make sure all items have room to breath so they don't get damaged
-To keep antique linens from yellowing, use tissue paper to separate them from each other and don't stack them too high to prevent enticing bugs and mold
-Use zippered cloth or plastic bags to store and protect items like comforters and blankets
-Hang table lines instead of folding to prevent wrinkles

I love using nailheads as a decorative detail in the home. You can easily customize pieces like beds, chairs, tables and even bulletin boards with some nailhead trim. It is a great way to emphasis the lines of a piece or to add a little somethin' somethin' to a neutral or simple object. Recently, I thought it would be easy to reupholster my own chair and use decorative nailheads along the bottom edge. Ummm, not so much! It wasn't as easy as I thought to get them lined up straight (as I am sure there is a trick to this that I will learn before my next attempt) but I am still happy with how it turned out!
I especially love the use to emphasis the feminine curves of furniture!
I love the use of a ribbon trim anchoring the nailheads!
I love it mixed with the texture of raffia!
I love the double rows of nailheads!
You can put them close together or separated out.
They come in many sizes.
I am really liking these larger ones!
And they come in many finishes too!

I am a big believer in making organization attractive. A lot of professional organizers out there are just function focused. For example, I just helped a client "prettify" her organization because she had hired a professional organizer years ago who had used all the ugly plastic Walmart containers with white label maker tape. Come on! There are a bizillion options out there so why not take the extra step to make things look nice too. I think the nicer an organized space looks, the more likely you are to maintain it. Ok, stepping down off of my soapbox now...
With all that being said, there are a ton of storage products for organizing jewelry out there but I am not going to talk about them. I want to show you some outside the box ideas. Here goes. If you want to show off your jewelry collection boutique style then keep it all tabletop and make a pleasing vignette like these...

If you prefer to keep your jewelry out of sight try using an antique muffin tins, cupcake molds, ice cube trays or a mismatch of teacups inside dresser drawers. I have been dying to use one of those old print letter trays (perhaps painted) to organize jewelry, they already have all the compartments that would be perfect for rings and earrings! They are even shallow enough that you could layer them inside a dresser.

If you want to display your jewelry on a wall so you can see it and so items doesn't get tangled try one of these options. You can use a custom frame with either chicken wire, picture wire or insert a radiator cover. Easy to make yourself!

I tend to like natural and simple table decorations. And you can find most of these things in your backyard!
