    Cameron Diaz's Manhattan Home

After reading the article in Elle Décor on Cameron Diaz's New York City home, designed by one of my all time favs, Kelly Wearstler, it left me feeling like I needed to go put on my favorite gold jewelry and hit the town for a night out with my friends!

Cameron's wit and personality make her one of my all time favorite actresses, but seeing these gorgeous pictures of her home shows how super chic and cool she is too! Kelly Wearstler clearly pushed her outside the box (as she is best known to do) but the aesthetic is still very true to Cameron's own style. In fact, the design of her NY apartment can be compared to many of her most loved fashion moments. Let's take a look...

You can tell that Kelly paid attention to every little detail ---something I can totally appreciate! "Drawers are lined in raw black silk, the back sides of doors are clad in hammered metal, and the interiors of closets are covered in custom wallpaper or in vivid paint." If that description alone doesn't make you feel like getting dressed up or going on a lush vacay, then I don't know what will! Oh, and of course I just love her mix of vintage and custom pieces and her jewelry inspiration seen throughout the rooms.

Last but not least, can we talk about that emerald kitchen?!? I would be perfectly content living in that room for the rest of my life. And one of my favorite parts... the unsealed brass counter tops that not only look killer but they "...show every water ring and squeeze of lemon juice. They give the place soul" says Diaz. Kinda reminds me of those amazing emerald earrings she wore to the 2007 Oscars!

I could really go on for days about every detail... which part is your favorite?

  • Dorris Day

    Dorris Day

I saw my first Dorris Day film when I was in high school. It was a lazy Saturday afternoon and I was channel surfing when I became mesmerized by the interior shots of her character's apartment in the film Pillow Talk. I was hooked. Not only was her character an interior designer, but the movie was good! For those of you who don't know [shame on you!], Doris Day was the Julia Roberts/Cameron Diaz/Renee Zellwegger/Kate Hudson of the 50's/60's. Her (along with Rock Hudson) can be credited, perhaps, with creating the romantic comedy genre but if not, they certainly perfected the whole "miscommunication/sexual innuendo" style humor.

Although Dorris Day had many hits like Lover Come Back and Send Me No Flowers, Pillow Talk is by far my favorite of the Dorris Day franchise. As I mentioned before, Dorris Day's character, Jan Morrow, is an interior designer who shares a "partyline" with her playboy neighbor, Brad Allen, played by Rock Hudson. Without giving too much of the plot away, the movie plays out a little something like this...characters meet, something silly ensues, they hate each other, they fight, they exude massive amounts of sexual tension, then said characters realize they are in love, cue the bestselling movie soundtrack and finally roll the credits. Pretty much standard formula for a romantic comedy however this film is wildly entertaining, slightly provocative and despite being shot in 1959, it is still relateable today. Not to mention, it was nominated for several Oscars including Best Art Direction-Set Decoration. Here are a few images to wet your appetite...now go rent it or buy it today!!! Oscar Recap

Sorry for being MIA. Dang, kidney stones. They are not fun. Did y'all watch The Oscars? I am movie obsessed and use to watch every Oscar nominated movie and I use to have Oscar themed parties. This year, I think I only saw one of the movies nominated. Hating that! Being busy is good but I do miss the old Sidney. She would have made these for the event...

Super happy for Octavia Spencer! Well deserved.

Thought this quote was funny "Didn't we create a foreign film category to prevent sweeps like this?"-Seth Rogan talking about The Artist winning everything.

I also just want to mention how cool and confident I think this gal is. She doesn't try too be cool, smart or witty, she just is. Love her!

So my tie for the real winners, in fashion that is, are Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Tina Fey rocked it! She just keeps getting better looking and most people will probably say that is because she is making more money but I think it is because she is more confident.

Speaking of funny ladies, I actually really liked Kristen Wiig's look because I think she looked authentically herself. And I really like the Bohemian look.

    Gwyneth is just well, Gwyneth.

I was disappointed by Jessica Chastain's dress. I really wanted to see her in a color. She's so gorgeous and it was just too distracting for me. But then again there is not an ornate bone in my body so I am probably biased.

And I might be the only one that didn't like Michelle Williams' ensemble. I am just really over her hairstyle. And I can't stand thicker necklaces that cut the neck like that. (Cameron Diaz had on one too which probably means they are the new thing.) Nor did I like the bow broach...too cutsie. The color was amazing on her on her though!

Bradley Cooper looked like a 70's porn star but somehow he totally pulled it off.

There you have it, my very opinionated personal opinion whether you wanted it or not!

I could be wrong but if not either the people at E! are falling asleep on the job or it was a REALLLY slow news day.
