    Warmth of Home

This past week has been so busy! I'm so glad you have found time to stop by.
Some time ago I inherited my Gramma's button box. There were so many beautiful buttons to sort and sift. I didn't want to hide them away and so I decided to display them proudly in my living room. What fun I had "tweaking" a very plain lampshade. When I turn the lamp on it fills the room with warmth as each button seems to glisten and glow.

I love this time of year. Home seems so much cozier...so much warmer as the brisk winds and cool temperatures arrive.
My sister, Patti, made this beautiful Autumn quilt for my sister, Marsha. I was asked to photograph it for my sister's quilting business.
I tend to prefer brighter colors, but, oh, these warm Autumn colors add such an inviting touch.

A closer look...Aren't the colors soothing and peaceful?

I love the touches of baby blue throughout. They remind me of the Autumn sky.

My sister did a beautiful job of machine quilting this feather pattern.
    She used a variegated thread.
It adds such a nice contrast.

Thank you for popping in, my dear blogging friends.I always love hearing from you...So many of you have left such kind comments.Blessings and Thanks to each one of you! Carolynn xoxo

    Little Quilts

Update...Still Waiting For Our Little Grandbaby to make his debut. He is one week overdue and we are praying for his arrival in the next few days. Thank you for your prayers!

Welcome To Little Quilts Around The House...
My favorite quilt shop in the southeast is "Little Quilts" in Marietta, Georgia.
A favorite quilting book of mine is one of their delightful publications.

"By The Light Of The Silvery Moon"

I made this little quilt for my Mom for Christmas a few years ago...
Do you see the hand carved red cardinal perched in the antique bread making bowl?
It was crafted by my husband's Grandmother, Annie Grant Keeling.

"Little House In The Big Woods"For several years I taught classes at my local quilt shop. This is the sample from the first miniature quilt class I taught.

"Aunt Jenny and Uncle Pink"My sweet husband gave me this pair of hand carved, jointed wooden dolls.
They were made by Polly Page...a primitive artist from Pleasant Hill, Tennessee.
Polly was a school mate of my husband's grandmother, Annie Grant Keeling.
When they were little girls they were taught hand carving in their little country school in the early 1900s. Polly's dolls are sought after by collectors from around the world.
When my husband was a little boy he would sit and play in the woodshavings
while his Grandma and Polly spent hours together happily visiting and carving.

I love adding lame' to many of my miniatures. I think it adds a bit of warmth and interest.

"Christmas Kitties"The whispy whiskers are stitched with DMC floss.

Sorry...I'm a little late at sharing a few of my Santa Quilts...

I had so much fun making this Santa Quilt. It is one of my favorite little quilts.
The authors of the book "Little Quilts All Through The House" are
Mary Ellen Von Holt, Alice Berg & Sylvia Johnson.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my home.

I love to quilt and find sewing miniatures right up my alley.
They are inexpensive and easy to finish.
I love sharing sewing projects and hope they serve to inspire you to create.

    Blessings,
    Carolynn xoxo

We're still waiting for our grandbaby boy to make his appearance...I will post when he arrives!

"Create in me a pure heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me."
    Psalm 51:10

I'm linking to my favorite blog parties and giveaways this coming week.
I invite you to visit my sidebar and link up with each one.
I know they would love having you as their guest.

    Sweet Stitching

    Hi Ladies!
It's hard to believe summer is almost over. Temperatures have begun to drop. It has been in the 30s the past few nights. I actually threw another quilt on the bed this week.

I made this little Birdhouse Miniature Quilt
using my favorite "Aunt Grace's" 1930s reproduction prints.
Each tiny birdhouse has a vintage button perch stitched on front.
    The borders are hand quilted.

I am so inspired by the many embroidered pretties that so many of you have been sharing on your lovely blogs.
My favorite quilt shop has so many wonderful ideas and patterns available. I thought you might enjoy some of the shop samples...and, who knows, you may be inspired, too!

How I love tea towels! Aren't these the sweetest?I am so fond of the old fashioned edgings.RICK RACK... POM POMS... LACE... HAND CROCHET... They add such lovely finishing touches!

I had fun making this little "Aunt Grace's" Sampler Doll Quilt.Don't you love all the Bubble Gum Pink prints?

    "Chloe's Quilt"
I made this small Log Cabin quilt for my sweet little kitty, Chloe.
She would curl up on it and nap in the afternoon sun.
I only had her for five years. I lost her, suddenly, to kidney failure.
    I miss her so much!

Yes...More of my favorite "Aunt Grace's" prints.
I made this chubby teddy bear using strips and
    a crazy quilting method.

I thought I better hurry and post this beautiful summer quilt. It is a sample that hangs at my favorite quilt shop"Sew Many Quilts" inBend, Oregon

Thank you for your warm visits and comments.
I appreciate each one of you! Blessings, my sweet friends,Carolynn xoxo

    Night Owl

Hello there...It's the middle of the night as I am writing this.
Ever have one of those nights when your creative juices are flowing and you can't settle down and fall asleep? As the holidays approach I find that I am filled with so many new ideas for sewing, decorating and gift giving.
I'm glad it's Veteran's Day. I will be able to sleep in.

"Night time is really the best time to work.
All the ideas are there to be yours...
    because everyone else is asleep."
    Catherine O'Hara

My husband's Grandmother hand carved this darling wide eyed owl.
When she was a young girl in Pleasant Hill, Tennessee, the children
were taught to handcarve at school.
    My...How times have changed!

    God's Love Forever Shines

Beautifully handcarved by my husband's grandmother,
    Annie Grant Keeling
    1908-1982

There's nothing better at 2 am than an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and a hot cuppa tea!
I designed this "Candy Corn " little quilt.
The buttons are made from Fimo clay.
The quilting method I used is called
    Foundation Piecing.

I captured this colorful display while driving home the other day.
Sadly, the leaves are all down after the strong winds we had last week.
I awakened to snow this morning.

Thank you for keeping me company...

    my wonderful blogging pals.

    I'm finally getting sleepy!
I hope you have a great day. Be sure and thank a Veteran for his or her dedicated service to our nation.

    God Bless You

and May God continue to Bless America!
