I love me some Lucite! I think it works well in both modern and traditional decor. Look at all the interesting ways Lucite can be incorporated into the home...
My friend Anne and I went to the Coastal Living Idea Cottage in I'On last week which was designed by a local designer, Angie Hranowsky. I think she did a phenomenal job! It is very simple and clean yet well styled.
The above artwork is (I assume) by Charleston artist, Molly B. Right and is made entirely of bottlecaps...truly amazing!

I love how they incorporated an antique newel post.
I dig the hardware throughout the house! The hardware in the master bathroom (below) is by Rocky Mountain and has such a wonderful aged patina. If you are local go see Whitney at Bird Hardware, to get yours!
Country Living did a great story on turning a reach-in closet into an office space. Not a new trick but I think they had some clever ideas. My favorite of which was spray painting the blah metal file cabinet a color that coordinated with the wallpaper.

Martha suggests having an auto body shop paint it for you (she is such a lazy ass).
You can even paint the wood variety.

Perhaps even updating the hardware to something like this...
Van Dykes Hardware
Or you could knit a "file cozy" (just kidding). But I do like the skirt idea that just hides the whole darn thing.

Here is another genius idea by designer, Mary McDonald, who covered her ugly metal file cabinet in a photocopy of her favorite wallpaper. I imagine you could use actual wallpaper, scrapbook paper, contact paper, whathaveyou.
Ahh, the power of paint! I had to show this one as I have the same dresser (only in tall chest form) and I have been dying to paint it but haven't landed on a color yet. I am in love, love, love with the Chinoiserie style! Well done.

Looks like they kept the hardware but painted it brass? What do you think...should I keep the hardware on mine? Get new? Paint them the same color as the chest?
If anyone lives near Aiken, SC you need to purchase these antique bins immediately! They would be great for recycling!
This $100 bedroom set in West Ashley would be adorable in a little girl's room! I would have it lacquered in a bright color to match your bedding and add some crystal knobs. You could even insert a fabric panel into the headboard that coordinates with your color scheme.
Give this dresser in Bluffton a custom look by painting it and covering the drawer fronts in grasscloth and change out the hardware like this...

So I've been taunting you with my big news and here it is...I'm opening a shop!!!
[Let's pause a sec for the cheers and applause...maybe even a lil' confetti falling from the sky.]
I think part of my delay in telling you is my shock that it is actually happening! A lifetime dream coming true! It will be called "Eclectic"-part design studio and part home decor shop where I will be selling home furnishings including furniture, lighting, art, accessories and more. The design studio will be very user-friendly so customers will be able to access it themselves. And the retail will be a mix of Eclectic Creations (custom items that I design and/or repurpose as well as items that I collaborate with local artisans to create), Eclectic Finds (things I collect from antique shops, flea markets, etc.) and Eclectic Picks (products that I have hand selected from chosen vendors). I feel that this unique blend of products will be unlike anything currently in the marketplace. And in case you are wondering, yes, I will still have my interior design business!
Eclectic is located at 875 Coleman Blvd next to Royal Hardware (where Belva's Flowers use to be). It is taking longer than expected (as these things always do) but I hope to be open sometime in June.
Here is a before shot...
(You know how I love rough before shots!)
Here is during shot mid up-fit...
I'll show you some after shots when I'm done! Or better yet, stop in and see for yourself! And I promise to keep you updated on the progress. Now you know why I have been so bad about blogging...I've been a lil' busy! :)
