So I painted the Sunburst mirror in my office white. Check. Now back to the rest of the list...it is a long list. And a photographer friend is coming to take photos of my office this week so pressure is on!
If anyone has been trying to email me at sidney@eclectic-idg.com and has had trouble, problem is corrected and it is up and running! My apologies for the inconvenience!
I wanted to give a quick shout out to my friend Lisa Johnson who is in charge of Aspen Fashion Week which started this past weekend! I am dying that I can't go see it for myself but I know it will be an amazing event! Click here to learn more.
No, not your hairstyle but your home style!
Short on wall space? No problem! Layer, layer, layer. I have a client who has almost ZERO wall space in her new home but LOTS of large art and mirrors so we had to get creative. I LOVE all of these ideas...
Hide some of your bookcase clutter.
This solution allows for some privacy but doesn't block all of the light.
Hanging the art over molding adds interest to the space without taking away from the architectural detail.
*My apologies for the lack of sources. I am trying to be better about this in the new year but these are old photos!
I just love this concept...what a great way to open up a small space and give yourself a full length mirror to check out your outfit head to toe! And you can see, it's not your 1980's mirrored wall my friends! If you are local and need someone to do this call Justin Walling with Charleston Architectural Glass 843.452.0427, he does a great job. He just installed an antique mirror backsplash in a client's kitchen (pictures to come) and it is beautiful!
I have removed many of the 80's style mirrored walls in client's homes but these images give me something to think about. If you add a little molding, some rosettes, maybe even some age to the mirror itself...they aren't too shabby and not at all like something you would find in Jack Tripper's place! I like the idea of using them as a headboard...it's like a classier version of mirrors on the ceiling.

Tom Scheerer used them as a headboard.
I used these crazy angled mirrors once in a TV Studio's office that I designed (shown below) and they were pretty easy to install. The client wanted modern, masculine and sleek and they worked perfectly to achieve the look. Plus, they really helped to bounce light around in this dark, windowless office. Like 'em? You can get your own here!

I love finding driftwood on the beach! I wonder what its story is- did it come from a broken down dock, or an old shipwreck or perhaps petrified tree from far away? In some areas, driftwood is so plentiful that it can be a nuisance but in actuality, it provides nutrients when decomposed, shelter for wildlife and oftentimes forms the base of sand dunes. Each piece is so unique with its knots and gnarls. Some are bleached out from time in the salt and sun. Regardless or its origin, the sculptural quality of driftwood truly makes it a work of art. Designers have been using driftwood in interiors for years and recently manufactures jumped on board creating lamps, mirrors and furniture out of this natural beauty.
As lighting...
As furniture...
As a mirror...
As is...
