MISS MOOX: This Week I...

  • This Week at Eclectic...

    This Week at Eclectic...

Saw some progress on a client's gender neutral nursery...drapes come next week. And don't worry, we have a "male" light fixture, just in case!

Speaking of the word drapes...have I mentioned how much I hate the word "curtians"? I really, really do. Kinda like I hate the word couch but I can tolerate couch. I can't tolerate curtains. I have a client that keeps calling them curtains and I keep saying "Please don't call them that." He just laughs but he needs to know that I am serious.

Also saw some progress on a client's guest bedroom in their second home on Sullivan's Island...

I should have fluffed before Instagramming!

So I learned Twitter this week! My poor friend had to teach me what it was all about. I honestly thought it would be a fad so I never bothered to learn it. And quite frankly, I still think it is very middle school but I get how it can be a valuable business tool so you will be seeing LOTS of tweets from me/Eclectic from here on out. I have officially run and jumped onto the bandwagon as it was speeding away from me.

If you aren't already, I invite you to follow me on any of the below social media...

As addicted as I am to Pinterest, I still love me some ol' fashion Inspiration Boards. Here is the one I have in my office @ Eclectic...

I cut down sheetrock and nailed it directly into the existing sheetrock and then spray mounted some leftover grasscloth I had from another project so the Inspiration Board would go wall to wall. It is much larger than this image shows. I have to give credit for the sheetrock idea to my talented friend Brett Elrod of C.B. Elrod Construction...it was pretty darn smart and inexpensive!

Speaking of the talented Brett Elrod, he got married last weekend. Here are my friend and I at his wedding reception at The Hibernian...good times.

And here is how my seashell display turned out for my clients. Remember my post from yesterday?

What do you think??? Be honest. But maybe not brutally honest.

Eclectic has been nominated for best interior design blog again this year and if chosen, I win a cash prize (yippie), so please take a second to vote for me here! Many thanks!!!

    Have a great weekend y'all!

    This Week @ Eclectic

Delivered the world's longest bench to a client...took 6 men to carry it.
    Not really.

I had it reupholstered a Duralee fabric.

I rearranged the entire showroom at Eclectic...

    Including the front window...

So I watch The Bachelor. I have watched for all 10+ seasons and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I think it is hilarious and I love analyzing all the different women (or men). However, Tiarra (or whatever the heck her name is) is an all time low for ABC.

    She went from this...

They were doing a Polar Bear Plunge

    To this...

    Faking hypothermia.

    Milking attention.

Oh and last week she was doing this...

    Seriously?

Do you watch? If so, do you read this? If not, you totally should.

    Moving on to real life...

This gentleman found me online who saw that I had once had an Edisto Farms Dairy Cooler for sale on my old online site Objects and asked if I happen to have any more. He said his grandfather once owned Edisto Farms and his dad use to work there and he thought it would make a great birthday present. Lucky for him, I have a penchant for collecting local history and just happened to have another one!

I bought my first Ann Keane painting! I have been coveting her work forever and just couldn't resist any longer...

    Happy Valentine's Day To Me!
    Thank you Charleston Artist Collective

Last weekend I went to that Superbowl Party and did a horrible job taking photos...I have none of actual people's faces and these don't even do justice to what my dear friend Lauren Heuber of Muster Branch did with the decor of the event. So I'm firing myself...Trump style.

    Have a great weekend y'all!

Hoping to put this wallpaper in a little boy's room on Sullivan's Island that I'm working on. It's so bleeping cool!

    Cole & Sons Great Wave

Working on styling a bathroom for a client who is renovating his master...

I bought the coolest piece of technology. Not sure if y'all have heard of it yet but you should totally get one. I'm way ahead of the curve...

    iPad

Rediscovered this song while my iPod was on Shuffle...

    Edwin McCain Alive
    (Live Version with Warren Hayes)

Also giving a lil' nod to New Orleans during Mardi Gras!

Took some Instagrams of the shop...for those of you that don't follow me I'll share.

Have y'all heard that Instagram parady to the Nickelback song? I can't take an Instagram without singing it. It is freaking hilarious.

    CollegeHumor's Favorite Funny Videos

This is one of my besties Mason and I in the photobooth at the SOS Black & White party on Saturday night. We co-chaired the event last year and this year we got to enjoy ourselves...perhaps a little too much!

Big game this weekend! I'm going to my friend's annual Superbowl party...they go all out and get a huge tent in their yard with a movie screen and bleachers with VIP seating. Jack's Cosmic Dog is there along with the peanut guy from the USC games and they serve bevos from the competing teams regions. My great friend Lauren Heuber of Munster Branch Vintage rentals/events is helping to plan it and has some great ideas in store! I'll try to remember to take some photos to share with you because she is super talented.

I don't give a dang about pro-football but I promised a certain someone that I'd root for SF so go 9'ers!

    Have a great weekend y'all!

I delivered this bad boy to a client. It will be topped with a local artist's work and some killer accessories. Bam. You just wait.

These guys are going to live in the same room...

I'm working on a mystery sex nursery and we are doing stripes on the ceiling (thicker than these) in Benjamin Moore's Boothbay Grey and Forget Me Not. The ceiling is pitched on either side so I think it is gonna be amazing!

Also doing the same client's daughter's room and that color scheme looks a lil' something like this...

I'm so in love with it!!!

So I was joking with my seamstress about all the local characters we have here in Mt. Pleasant (for you non-locals it is the 'burb just over the bridge from Charleston) as you do in any town really. One I mentioned that she was not familiar with was Willie Nelson. He is always walking near where I work and live. I spotted him about an hour after our conversation and was trying to get a photo. I'll have to do better next time...

Anyone know who I'm referring to? He's a dead ringer.

This Saturday is the annual SOS Black & White Event. If you haven't bought your ticket go do it now! Going to be a blast as always! I'm taking Ryan Reynolds.

Big thanks to Carter at The Scout Guide Charleston for featuring Eclectic on their blog today!

This is me being self-conscious during the posed photo.

    Have a great weekend y'all!

  • This Week I...

    This Week I...

Had another fun battle with Comcast, my IT guy and my laptop. No internet for 3 days. Just because I have Internet now, don't think that I won. No, no, no! $$$, cursing, countless hours troubleshooting on the phone and being way behind in work = losing my friend. I really want to do this...

    Moving on.

Saw this beautiful custom vanity that was delivered for a client...

Painted in Benjamin Moore's Chelsea Grey. Here is the proposed design...

If you can believe it, she's second guessing those mirrors!?!?! I know, I know.

Got hives walking into my messy office...I'm pretty sure my desk is somewhere in there.

Installed these gorgeous guest towels into my booth at Southern Accents that I worked with WayWay of Blue Chickadee to design. Did I mention that they were gorgeous?

As well as this...what do you think of my custom art piece? I titled it "Sea Creatures".

What you can't see in this photo are the cool details. So I'll show you...
LARGE nailhead details on the side

THICK jute rope to hang it from

Your thinking I'm kinda brilliant right now, aren't you? Um-hum.

Also, did you notice these guys in my booth vignette photoed above?

They are industrial sewing bobbins. I am in love with them. For now, I am selling them "as is" in my booth but I have access to more and want to think of something to do with them! Any ideas all you creative readers? They are like 22"h and 3-4" diameter. Lamp and table legs are already on the list...what else you got? Leave a comment.

Have a great weekend y'all! I hope everyone stays safe from Irene (that bitch).

  • This Week I...

    This Week I...

Went to the Homegrown Concert (annual Hootie & The Blowfish + Friends) with my girls...

(Not the best photo but it is the only one we took!)

Dropped these pretties off at a client's house for her art studio...

And these beauts at another client's house...

Only 13 days left to take advantage of my Summer Promotion: Get TWO rooms for the price of ONE on my e-decorating services. Here is a dining room just completed for a client. Email sidney@eclectic-idg.com for more information.

Look at all these gorgeous pillows for sale in my booth over at Southern Accents. Interested? Email sidney@eclectic-idg.com. I can ship them to you!

I have SO much to make and load into my booth. Gotta run...have a great weekend y'all!

  • This Week I...

    This Week I...

Assembled an art piece for the office of Jackson Built Custom Homes. I will have better photos when all is completed but my-oh-my they look good already! Custom colored blueprints of their custom built homes...don't mind if I do!

How cute is this? I sketched this out for a client a few years ago...she needed help accessorizing her built-ins at her house on Folly. I am now helping her with her house in the Old Village and she pulled it out to show me! Love that she kept it! She said she used it when trying to accessorize in her new home. ha! Adorable.

While I'm at it, this was the floorplan for their Folly house...really wish I had after pics! It was pretty much white, black and turquoise. Wood floors, garage doors that opened off the porch, turquoise glass tile in the kitchen, zebra rug in the living room (not shown), custom daybeds on the porch. Very cool!

I founds some goodies in my hunting and fishing this week that I think I'm going to have to hold onto! No pun intended here...

    And something else orange...

Probably the only Hermes I will ever own. Four empty boxes.

I will be buying this immediately! Hits the streets this fall.

Have a great weekend y'all! Headed to the Homegrown concert...it will be fun but hotter (Hootier-geez) than the solar surface of the sun.

  • This Week I...

    This Week I...

Loaded more stuff into my booth over at Southern Accents...there were more accessories in this vignette that literally sold as I was setting it up and before I could take this picture! I'm not complaining :)

Am working on something really cool for a client/friend's office over at Jackson Built Custom Homes...I can't wait to show you the final product!

Am designing some custom closets for a renovation project downtown and another one on Shem Creek that my talented friend Brett Elrod, of C. B. Elrod Construction, is working on...

I'm working on an outdoor living space/exterior renovation project in Wild Dunes. Here are some before pics...

And here are some of the inspiration photos. Think large scale slate floors, banquette dining area, zinc tabletops, teak furniture...bye bye black iron, bye bye hot tub, bye bye heavy black furnishings and helllooooo cool new style!

Speaking of outdoor spaces, here is an e-decorating plan I did for a client...

Don't forget from now until the end of August I am offering two rooms for the price of one on my e-decorating services! Quite the bargain! Email me for more information sidney@eclectic-idg.com

    I love my job!
To quote Jeffery Alan Marks "I'm so happy to get paid for my hobby. I literally don't know what else I would do." Amen. I'm so sad the season is over (sad face).

    Have a great weekend y'all!

  • This Week I...

    This Week I...

Hung these beautiful sconces for a client/friend...

Had an install at a client's house we are still finishing up all the little details but here is a sneak peek...

They might kill me for posting these photos but I just HAD to a) because it was so cute and b) because it shows real life! I will have some professional photos taken of their home but I am happy to show that it is lived in!

Can you tell their son likes Thomas the Train?

    I spy Lightening McQueen!

Helped a client prepare for a dinner party...yeah, I do it all people.

Ok, so next week I'm off on our annual Griswald family vacation to Fripp Island. SUPER excited to spend time with these guys...

    (fake smiles)

As well as my brother/sister-in-law, my parents and our cousins/spouses. We will be celebrating several birthdays too. Good times, good times.

    Have a great weekend/week y'all!

  • This Week I...

    This Week I...

Had a very enjoyable and more importantly LOOOONG fourth of July weekend. However, the re-entry was a little tough.

(Jamie Meares, if you happen to be reading...I bought this cover-up because I saw it on your blog! Love it! So thanks :)

Helped a client with selections for her master bathroom that is being renovated.

Picked up a mirror for my client that I had lacquered. It was pretty in its original form but just needed to be white.

    And now it is!

(Note to self: check what's in the reflection before posting on your blog.)

Went to a new bar here in Charleston called The Cocktail Club. It is beautiful! They basically gutted it and took it down to the old studs and exposed brick. Well done! I took these photos from their Facebook page.

    In progress shot...

    And now...

    Industrial lighting...

    Opening night...

If you do not already "like" Eclectic Interior Design Group on Facebook, please do so now. Not only will you get my blog in your newsfeed daily but I will have other design related information and photos updated often! Thanks for reading!

    This Week I...

Here is a little snip-it of what I've been working on this week. It's still not complete but I'm showing you pics anyway. Come see for yourself at Southern Accents!

Check out these killer seahorses that Way Way of Blue Chickadee painted for me! Sorta wanting to keep them for myself!!! (More on them tomorrow)

Have a great weekend! I vow to not paint, craft or move anything for the next three days.

    This Week I...

Leased a booth at Southern Accents Designer Showcase Market!
    630 Colemand Boulevard
    Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464
    (843) 856-9131

Like many designers, I have always dreamed of having a store/design studio (and someday I will!) but for now this will suffice. I am excited to get all my goods out of my overcrowded office and merchandised into the booth. First, I need to paint! The yellow is too much. So here is a before pic of the space...

I will show you the after as soon as its ready!

Also, I am starting a Summer Promotion on my e-Decorating services. Are you ready for it? No, really are you sitting down? For the months of June, July and August you can get TWO rooms for the price of ONE on my e-decorating services! You heard me. TWO rooms for the price of ONE! Now's the time to take the plunge! What's e-Decorating you ask? Well, let me tell you...

E-decorating is an alternative service to hiring a designer to do face-to-face, turn-key interior design. Eclectic provides a Customized Design Plan for a room (or rooms) in your home for you
to implement yourself. This service is perfect for those clients who want to work with Eclectic but cannot due to geographical challenges. E-decorating is also great for clients that only want to
work on one or two rooms, clients who are on a limited budget or clients that like to do a lot of
the work themselves but need help with an overall vision.

Email me today sidney@eclectic-idg.com for more information. Here is a sample of a recent e-Decorating plan...

I must have been craving Neapolitan ice cream.

    Ok, off to shop...

    Have a great weekend y'all!!!

  • This Week I...

    This Week I...

Did some hunting and fishing. Here are some of the things I caught and some of the things I threw back...

    Ming Coffee Table

    Vintage Hat Stands

    Old Grocery Cart

    Green Wire Wine Basket

I would hang this on a wall. Bam.

Minus the basin (it wasn't part of it) this table could make a cool bar cart on a porch!

Huge a** screen. Hope it finds a purpose other than taking up space in my house.

I would design an entire mudroom around this bench!
(try to picture it without all that junk ontop)

Me likey with new chair cushion.

I might love this console/ottoman set more than my first born.
(Can I get away with saying that since I don't have children yet???)

These chairs are child sized. If they had cheeks I would pinch them!

Now this beaut was only $8 and it is NARSTY. But I just ordered a ton of a very pliable pebbly wallpaper for a client project and I had to order so much that I am going to use the remainder to cover this table. At least that is the game plan. I am no Jenny from Little Green Notebook but I do have good intentions.

Here is some of my inspiration...

Then I saw this over at my blog friend Sissy's blog, Blue Hydrangea, and now I really, really, really have to do it!

    Before

    During

    After

Have a great weekend y'all! Gonna leave you with a lil' Sam Bush as I am going to see him this weekend and couldn't be more excited!

"Take a little time for sunshine, take a whole lotta time for love / Take some time to praise and thank heaven up above / Take your life as it may come, 'cause boy, it'll be gone soon / Take a little time for howlin' at the moon."

  • This Week I...

    This Week I...

Took a couple "mental health" days to do this...

I needed to recharge the ol' batteries as they say. They are still charging but should be at a full charge by Monday (I hope).

I finally broke down and joined Pinterest! Four hours later I uncrossed my eyes and went to bed. I am slowly adding stuff and ironically started with fashion and hair perhaps because I needed a little break from design (see: recharging the ol' batteries). Follow me if you want to!

    Went to see this...

It's dang funny, especially for a sequel. But heck, I could watch Zack Galifianaki for two hours doing nothing and laugh my head off. I could also watch Bradley Cooper for two hours but I would be doing more than laughing.

Went to see Sarah Jarosz at the Cistern for Spoleto. If you are unfamiliar, get familiar.
    She is beyond amazing!

Here are some things you have missed if you aren't following my online shop, Eclectic Finds!

Next week is "Book Week" over at Eclectic Finds where I am selling some of my favorite fashion, design and coffee table books to add to your collection.

    This Week I...

Went on a girl's trip to Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach (if you haven't heard the Sunny Ledfurd song please go do so now!). We stayed at a friend's house (see below). And to the reader who said mean things to me last time I "teased" about Myrtle Beach...CHILL. OUT. There are beautiful parts in every town...

And there are terrible cheesy parts in every town...

    Just accept it.
You can go to my home town of Marietta, Georgia and prove the very same point!

    Me and my roomies.
Sixteen women in one house...aye, aye, aye!

Big thanks to Danika over at Gorgeous Shiny Things for featuring my nightstands in her segment, THE SCORE, where she showcases people's fabulous finds!

Checked in on my friend/client who just moved back in after having his concrete floors stained. I think they look amazing!

It was Fabric Week over at Eclectic Finds! Lots of remnants for sale so go check them out! If you mention the phrase "I'M A FABRIC HOARDER" you get 10% off!

    Grrr, a lil' alone time...

I hope all you local folks are coming out to our annual Memorial Day event!

All proceeds benefit local breast cancer patients so come enjoy some booze and bbq while listening to Indecision and Gaslight Street...get yo' tickets here!

    This Week I...

This was technically last week but never posted for some reason but I still wanted to mention it...While in Beaufort for Mother's Day/My Birthday, we went to some design shops and antique stores like Fordham Market and M Interiors, a super cute shop on Bay Street. We also went to a few antique malls over in Port Royal and Lady's Island. I got some gems you will soon see for sale on Eclectic Finds!

M Home and Garden, Downtown Beaufort, SC

Saw Something Borrowed. I am so happy for Atlanta writer Emily Giffin who has already signed a four time movie deal of her books! You go girl.

Have I mentioned how much I heart John Krazinski?

(There ain't nothing like a good guy who is also sarcastic and self-deprecating.
    I'm just sayin'...)

Loaded lots of goods into Eclectic Finds! Something new will debut every day. Go check it out...

And all next week I will be selling remnants so look alive and grab up some quality fabric for a steal! Here is a little tease...

Ok, so I'm off for a girl's weekend. Woop Woop! Three guesses where I'm going...

    #1

"Luanne, why don't we just go up there and say "This was our last weekend together, and we didn't feel like going to Fort Sumter and touring goddamn colonial homes. We wanted to go to the beach and meet boys and go to wild parties and dance." I mean why can't we tell them the truth?" -Carson

This guy is in Spring Training there...

    This Week I...

Checked in on the progress of some custom built-in's at a client's. We're gettin' there! Painter starts today!

FINALLY got a nice camera!!! I can't explain my joy. I have been asking for a nice one every birthday and Christmas since I was like 15 and way before digital cameras were invited. I think my parents doubted my interest despite the fact that I would tinker around with my dad's old school Nikon. So like any adult woman with a job...I bought one...for myself. Yeah me! Even better...I got it for an absolute STEAL! No really, I think it might have been "stolen goods" when I purchased it. Whatev's, it works.

Convinced my client to do custom panels (similar to this but with a pebble textured wallpaper) with these sconces installed in them. Yummy!

Finished Bossypants by Tina Fey. Dang that woman is funny!!! I was on the beach reading it and laughing out loud like a crazy person but I didn't care because I was having the best time. I highly recommend reading it!

Need to brag for a second about my discipline...I have only had two Diet Cokes in almost six weeks. I know, I know. You're proud of me too, aren't you? Now if only that discipline would get me to the gym on a regular basis.

    All By Myself...

I want to give you something [that's what she said].

A moment of silence dedicated to Michael Scott. You will be missed.

If it won't go in, bang it harder.
    [That's what she said.]
I was told it was bigger than this.
    [That's what she said.]
    Your pushing the wrong button.

    Happy Easter!

    This Week I...

Got "the finger" from an old lady who thought I was driving too fast on Seabrook. I kinda wanted to give one back to her as 25mph is way too slow! Not all of us are retired...some of us have places to be! Besides, I'm from Atlanta, second only to L.A. in road rage.

Went to Charleston Architectural Glass to check on a client's project. I took a pic of the studio but it is totally black. Too bad because they were working on some beautiful antique glass mirrors! I keep telling owner Justin Walling that he looks like Mark Harmon which is clearly a compliment but I am not sure he likes it.

    Am I right?

Helped my friends over at Jackson Built Custom Homes on Daniel Island with their new office. Here is what I presented for both the overall look and storage ideas for their new digs.

Met like 60 Civil War Reenactors while they were dining at my favorite watering hole, Hometeam, on Sullivan's Island. They were here for the 150th Anniversary of the start of the Civil War and many of them came from all over the world like Scotland and Australia. It was pretty darn funny to see them ordering a beer in all their accouterments like it was totally normal.

But it stopped being funny when they started firing cannons at 6:45 am until 9:45 pm about four blocks from my house.

I am going to Athens, GA next week for a buying trip so let me know if you have any good spots (home decor, antique stores, flea markets, junk shops, etc.) that I need to hit up!

    Have a great weekend!

    This Week I...

Missed posting yesterday. Think it was the first time in almost two years that I missed a day! I am still dealing with Mirgraine-gate 2011. I have had one every other day. Sure makes it hard to function! So I worked about half a day every day. I am doing anything and all to get them to stop including FINALLY quitting diet coke. I am on day 9 and I'm taking it one. day. at. a. time...

Went to the Family Circle Cup on Daniel Island

Finally found this fabric! I had designed a whole room around it and then found out it was discontinued (happens way too often) and I didn't have the heart to tell my client (although I think she reads my blog). Shannon Darby of The Designer's Attic saved my arse!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Selected this killer hand-blown turquoise glass from Germany for inserts on some custom cabinetry my carpenter is building. I can't wait to see it installed!!!

Visited a potential new client on Daniel Island

Had my carpenter add the PERFECT knobs to a dresser that came with none but was suppose to. Happy accident as these are much better!

While changing out my closet for spring, I realized I have a slight addiction...(there are two layers underneath this layer!)

This bully scared off the turtles! Boo!

My brother and his family are in Pensacola where they ran into former UGA quarterback, Matt Stafford. Check out the smiles on my nephews faces! So cute!!!

[I secretly wonder if my brother knew Matt was vacationing there and planned their family trip around it. I come from a family of BIG Georgia fans people...it's possible.]

I have friends coming for the weekend and the weather is suppose to be in the mid-80's! Whoop Whoop!
    Have a great weekend y'all!
