First of all, thank you very much indeed for all the well wishes I've received. I'm pleased to say I'm finally on the mend and as such am getting my appetite back good and proper! I realised this as I was scrolling through one of my favourite blogs, 101 Cookbooks, drooling over the cakes in their pop up shop preview. I noticed how one of the items for sale was a bundle of cake flags from Herriott Grace (another of my favourite blogs) and immediately gravitated towards the colours in the photos.
Recently I've been creating a new range of stationery, which consequently means I've been collating images like mad woman for inspiration. I noticed that today's 'old gold' mood board was fast turning into this week's Most Wanted, as it's pretty much just a list of things I want! So here it is. PS This is the last you'll hear from me until late next week as I'm taking a short break. My 31st (gulp) birthday is tomorrow which I intend to enjoy by doing no work, followed by a family BBQ on Saturday and Diamond Jubilee celebrations at Battersea Park on Sunday. And because the Queen has been on the throne for 60 years we've all been given two back to back public holidays on Monday & Tuesday here in the UK. No work til Wednesday... Go Queen! Ha. Have an excellent weekend, friends! Clockwise from top left, the goods are:
Ilana Kohn's Yellow Marble Print Scarf (hello summer!) Asplund Light Tray from Artilleriet Iacoli & McAllister Spica Light from Object UK/Netherlands reversible map from Present and Correct Artwork from Ekaterina Koroleva Penguin Classic's cover design for The Great Gatsby Industry & nature together using sunglasses as a makeshift camera filter (photo by me) A4 Tie Envelope (made from 'the same stuff as the label on the back of your jeans' - leather?!) from Muji Tourmaline quartz necklace from Nallik Lovely table setting from Christmas 2011 by My Little Fabric
I know images of Moonrise Kingdom are going to be (and already were earlier this year) everywhere in the coming days/weeks, but I don't care because I love it so. Already. And I haven't even seen it yet. I simply cannot wait to sit, watch and indulge in what I know is going to be such a beautiful film. The colours are summer nostalgia perfection. Have a great weekend, friends. See the trailer here.
If you asked my friends if I was the outdoorsy type they would probably laugh because I think I make it plainly obvious to them that I am very much a city person. Well, half of me is. I love convenience, comfort and great places to eat & drink, but the other half of me wishes I had no belongings and lived out of a back pack travelling the world. When I saw this photo of Lake Louise at Banff National Park by Kevin McNeal, that other side surfaced and I started to think about how much I could sell all my stuff for so we could take off into the mountains... and then I remembered I needed to go to the post office, so that ended that. Anyway, that's a long way of saying that I love this photograph and wish I could at least visit somewhere as beautiful as this... particularly as my husband is Canadian! For now I'm going to use it as inspiration until the day I get to go there in person. The colours are amazing are they not?
